The Truth of Bengal,Rajamoy Mukherjee: November 21, Kolkata: Reliance Industries Ltd. Chairman Mukesh Ambani in his speech during the inaugural session of the 7th Edition of the Bengal Global Business Summit 2023 stated some astounding figures that shone the light on West Bengal’s growth story and immense potential for the future. Mukesh Ambani disclosed that the Reliance group has already invested around Rs 45,000 crore in West Bengal and the conglomerate to invest an additional Rs 20,000 crore in the state over the course of the next three years, along with a host of CSR initiatives.Mr. Ambani said that the planned investments will be in the fields of digital life-solutions, retail footprint and bio-energy.He shared his vision that a prosperous Bengal will once again make it India’s gateway to the South-East and Far-East Asia.He assured the Hon’ble Chief Minister that Reliance will leave no stone unturned to accelerate Bengal’s growth.
He announced that Jio’s 5G rollout that is already underway in West Bengal would soon equip every house in the state to harness Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing and other technological tools. This transformation would unleash new employment and entrepreneurial opportunities to millions in the state.Mr. Ambani also announced that Reliance plans to invest in 100 Compressed Biogas Plants in the next three years, consuming 5.5 million tonnes of agricultural residue and organic waste that will help mitigate 200 million tons of carbon emissions and 200,000 tonnes of organic manure annually, which will help Bengal farmers to increase their income by doubling-up as “Annadaata and Urjjyadaata”s-i.e. producers of food as well as energy.Reliance Foundation also plans to set up a large network of training institutes for the benefit of younger generations of craftsmen with the cooperation of the Govt. of West Bengal.His appreciation for the state’s governance came in the form of his description of Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee as “Agnikanya”, taking cue from the term used by the Hon’ble late (former Prime Minister of India) Atal Bihari Vajpayee to refer to her. He further went on to state, “As one of the leading private sector investors and employers in West Bengal, Reliance has had an extremely pleasurable experience of doing business in this state. That is why, I have no hesitation in recommending Bengal as an ideal investment destination to all my fellow investors and global businessmen.”

He announced that in addition to the existing Wipro campus in Salt Lake, the second Wipro Campus at Rajarhat would soon become functional where an investment of over 200 Crores is already underway. This new campus would facilitate as the training and up-skilling centre for imparting cutting-edge IT training to Wipro employees pan-India.
